16. Brienne vs. The Hound
This was perhaps the battle of the century. Brienne of Tarth is of course known for her strength and battle prowess.
The noble warrior-maiden
She pretty much defeated Jaime in a sword fight when she was escorting him to King’s Landing. Jaime argued that it was only because he had been imprisoned for months, but we all know how skilled Brienne really is.

Sandor Clegane, on the other hand, is famous not only for his fighting skills, but also his command – he is known particularly for serving in Joffrey Baratheon’s Kingsguard.
The foul-mouthed former Kingsguard
When these two clashed – each fighting for custody of Arya Stark – it was sure to be a bloodbath.

That’s exactly what happened. It was brutal. It was gritty. And Brienne triumphed, punching Sandor down a hill.
The fight to end all fights
That didn’t mean that Brienne managed to help Arya – who escaped whilst the fight raged. Arya came back to Sandor where he lay dying, but didn’t grant his pleas for a quick death. It’s a good job – otherwise we wouldn’t have seen Sandor return. It’s still a truly shocking moment – a clash between two giants.
