18. The Loot Train attack
Thrones has had many amazing battle sequences during its time on air. But none have quite matched the first time we saw Daenerys’ united forces attack the Westerosi.
Fire and blood
This attack came after Daenerys lost the majority of her allies – Dorne, the Iron Islands and High Garden – whilst she sat unmoved on Dragonstone.

The Lannister force was preparing to move their captured food cargo to King’s Landing, when the cry of thousands of Dothraki assaulted the senses.
The Westerosi didn’t stand a chance
Bracing for impact, the screech of Drogon overhead followed by the reigning fire threw all into chaos.

Bronn – our favourite sellsword – managed to wound the dragon, but ultimately failed (phew).
Jaime went for a final charge
The battle ended with Jaime snatching up a spear and attempting to run Daenerys down whilst she was helping Drogon. He failed, but fortunately didn’t die, with Bronn riding in to push them both into the water before Drogon spat fire.
I know I was on the edge of my seat throughout, and the shock at seeing Drogon wreck the Westerosi force hit hard.
