20. Melisandre revealing herself
Melisandre is the famous Red Priestess who has aided both Stannis Baratheon and Jon Snow – believing each to be “The Prince Who Was Promised”.
The Red Woman
Not much is known about her, other than that she claims to have magical abilities.

This is clearly the case, given that she has drank poison and survived, birthed a shadow creature that killed Renly Baratheon and revived Jon Snow from the dead.
Seductress and priestess
Her guise is that of a beautiful young woman with red hair. But in one shocking scene that took place during series 6, it was revealed that she is as far away from that as possible.

After taking off her (magical) necklace, Melisandre was shown to be an frail old woman with white hair.
Wow – ew!
Not a big battle or a monstrous death, to be sure. But after seeing Melisandre’s beauty captivate time and again, it was a shock to see the reality. Now there are more questions than ever.
