I bless the rains down in Africa

Toto may have been onto something. As we head into North Africa, there are plenty of cities you can snag a beer for less than £2.

Algiers comes in at a very reasonable £1.79, with neighbouring capital Niamey offering and even more impressive average price of £1.23.

However to the West in Ouagadougou, the nearby capital of Burkina Faso, you can get a pint in for just one pound.

The official language here is French, so if you’re cracking open a cold one and someone says “à votre santé” be sure to answer “à la tienne”.

(Basically translates as “have a good one” and “you too pal”.)

Prices in this North-West area of Africa ten to stay low: £1.98 in Abidjan, £1.24 in Accra, £1.15 in Freetown, Sierra Leone and just 63p in Lagos!

Straying further inland in this area brings a swell in pint prices- peaking at £4.29 in Nouakchott.
