21. The Tower of London, London
An incredibly famous British landmark, the tower has been used throughout history for a variety of purposes.

Some of these include: an armory, a treasury, a menagerie, a public record office and even as a home for the Crown Jewels.
The ultimate prison
But aside from all that, it was also famously used as a prison for the most notorious offenders during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Some of these offenders include Anne Boleyn, Henry VI, Lady Jane Grey and Margaret Pole. All were killed – and all are said to haunt the tower with their presence.
20. Dunster Castle, Somerset
A former bailey castle, it has now been altered to become a pleasant country house.
