In one of life’s little coincidences, another of the ‘FairyTale’ cast owes some of their success to the BBC’s flagship sci-fi show.

Taking over from Sylvester McCoy and starring in only one TV episode of the show, Paul McGann was the last actor to play the role until the show’s reboot in 2005.

Luckily for the Fairytale producers, McGann took a break from Tardis travel to play Elsie’s father, Arthur Wright.

McGann’s page on IMDB is impressive and lengthy, boasting consistent credits throughout the 90s and 00s.

He made headlines at the end of 2017, as it was announced he would be making a special appearance on Holby City.

Talking to ITV’s Loose Women about his role as hot-shot surgeon Professor John Gaskell, McGann revealed that:
“it was a baptism of fire and slightly tense [but he] was impressed with their ideas for the character”.
