MVPs behind the scenes

The movie was produced by Jim Henson, the genius behind Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the gang.

Whilst Henson had already flexed his literary adaptation muscles with ‘A Muppet’s Treasure Island’, I can’t help but feel Kermit and the gang wouldn’t have been down for this.

20. Bit of a Roeg one

Nicholas Roeg was chosen to direct, despite being more famous for hist heavy going adult work like ‘Don’t Look Now’. This actually explains a lot.

And whilst the movie sees children turned into mice, Roeg used his own son as a guinea pig. He showed his son footage from the shoot as the film was being edited- when the little boy had to run away and hide, that’s when a scene was cut. I really hope that kid is OK now. Can someone check on him please?

The screenwriter, Allan Scott, was nominated for a BAFTA in the Best British Film category, and bagged the Writer’s Guild Award 1978- but he started off as a Scotch Whisky executive.
