18. Viggo bought some horses
Actors often get attached to the people and props that they’re worked with on a film.
Viggo worked closely with his horse
This is especially true for Viggo, who shared an intense connection with many of his fellow cast-mates.

But he also had a close bond with the horses he rode…
“I bought the one [horse] in Lord of the Rings even though I wasn’t with him all the time, I just developed a real good friendship with him. His name is Eurayus. He kind of came into the movie similar to the way I did.”
As did many of the other actors
Not only that, but Viggo was also very observant of the people around him who liked their horses.

Liv Tyler’s stunt double, Jane Abbott, for example. She really fell in love with the horse who played Asfaloth (Arwen’s horse in the film).
Probably Jane Abbott
Viggo recognized this and decided to buy the horse as a gift for her, because she couldn’t afford him herself. Why can’t some buy me a horse?
