27. Caparzo’s letter
Before Caparzo dies, he takes a letter out of his jacket and asks someone to deliver it to his father.
Caparzo wanted to help the French family
It’s the unit’s medic, Wade, that picks up the letter after he fails to save Caparzo.

He puts it safely into his jacket. However, not long after, he, too, is shot and mortally wounded.
The letter is passed on
After he bleeds out, Captain Miller takes Caparzo’s note and puts it into his own jacket.

But of course Miller doesn’t make it back alive either. The film ends before we see what actually happens to Miller’s body, but we assume that Reiben – one of the only surviving members of the unit – took the letter.
Miller also dies, leaving the whereabouts of the letter unknown
Whether the letter ever reached Caparzo’s father, we don’t know. But it’s an interesting continuation throughout the course of the film.
