Remember that one iconic scene where Robin William’s character, Alan Parrish, battled a monstrous crocodile?
Swimming to safety…
Well, it turns out that unlike most of the other wild animals who were brought to life by CGI, the croc was very real.

Okay, so maybe the crocodile wasn’t actually real, but the man controlling him sure was!
Fight!!!
Academy Award winning puppeteer, Tom Woodruff Jr, was brought in to bring the deathly reptile to life!

During the fight scene, Robin Williams shared he hit the ”crocodile” so hard it caused Woodruff to cry out ”hey, that hurts!”
Scary stuff…
We didn’t realise it at the time, but Woodruff was also inside the very real-looking (not really) mechanical lion!
