2. Bryan Cranston Wasn’t The First Choice…
It’s almost impossible to imagine Breaking Bad without Bryan Cranston as the leading role, but this was very nearly a reality…
A last minute casting…
According to an insider at AMC, the producers were keen to have Matthew Broderick or John Cusack as Walter White!

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, a former AMC executive shared;
“We all still had the image of Bryan shaving his body in Malcolm in the Middle, We were like, ‘Really? Isn’t there anybody else?’”
Walter White…
When it came down to it the final decision was made by Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan who had worked with Cranston in the past.

In an interview, Gilligan shared:
“We needed somebody who could be dramatic and scary yet have an underlying humanity so when he dies, you felt sorry for him. Bryan nailed it.”
Cranston and Gilligan…
Thankfully for us fans, Gilligan got his way but can you imagine how different the show would have turned out if Cranston didn’t get the part?!
