The Duchess has proved time and time again that she’s more than just a pretty face!
Kate met the Duke long before she met William…
During a documentary celebrating 60 years of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, it was explained that Kate had actually achieved her gold Duke of Edinburgh award whilst studying her A-Levels.

Not everyone will have heard about the scheme, but to put it simply you have to complete a hike in the pouring rain.
She got a Gold award at the Duke of Edinburgh…
“I remember trying to cook bacon in the soaking wet, and everything was just sopping. In the end I said ‘you know, I think we’re just going to have plain sandwiches that are just bread and butter!’”

Kate and her team achieved the gold standard and as a result, were invited to St James’ Palace to receive it in person – meaning Kate met and chatted to the man who is now the great-grandfather to her children way before she met William.

Just goes to show how crazy life is – 20 years ago Kate came face to face with the Queen’s husband and is now part of the Royal family.
