Yes, the Middletons have done very very very well for themselves, but it’s always nice when you’ve had a little head start in life (money wise).

Our parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents have worked hard all of their lives to ensure we have a financially safe future, some of us are lucky enough to inherit a nice wad of cash. Kate Middleton was one of those people.

It turns out her father was related to a wealthy Yorkshire wool merchant, Francis Martineau Lupton, who left his estate amounting to £70,000 back in 1921 – which is now worth £2 million.

When Lupton died, he was very specific about the fact the money he left was to be used for the education of his descendants – cue Michael Middleton.
