It was previously rumoured that cult meetings took place in the cemetery and unusual ceremonies took place in the middle of the night.

Creatures of the night…
One man wrote to the local newspaper claiming to have seen an apparition of demon-like red eyes glaring out at him from the cemetery, when his car suddenly broke down.

The man claimed to have seen the unidentified creature peering through the iron gates which rattled at its touch.
Mysterious attacks…
Another claimed he was violently pushed to the ground by an unknown creature, whilst walking along Swain’s Lane.
