7. Glasgow Necropolis
The Glasgow Necropolis is a 19th century, Victorian cemetery located to the east of St. Mungo’s Cathedral.

The necropolis was created following the opening of the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, which put pressure on Britain to open more cemeteries.

There are approximately 50,000 people buried in this vast cemetery, however only around 3,500 monuments have been erected and fewer still are named.

Back in the 1950’s, a police officer patrolling the area was faced with hundreds of children armed with knives and sticks wandering the graveyard…

When questioned, they explained they were hunting the 7ft vampire who had reportedly killed and eaten two boys from the local area.
The Gorbals Vampire…
The vampire was thereon nicknamed ‘The Gorbals Vampire’, a legend which lives on to this day.
