It has been claimed that following her arrest at Hampton Court, the young woman fought free of her guards and ran through a part of the palace that is now known as the Haunted Gallery. The frightened teenager is said to have cried out to the King, begging for mercy.
A gruesome end…
It is now claimed that her restless spirit can be seen repeating her final acts for the rest of eternity.

Catherine is just one of many ghosts who has made their home in the palace. Another spirit who is regularly sighted, belongs to Sybil Penn – a servant of four Tudor monarchs.
The Grey Lady…
Sybil Penn was a loyal servant to the monarchs she worked for and in 1562 she nursed Queen Elizabeth I through her contraction of smallpox.

Sadly, while the queen recovered, Sybil herself caught the pox which claimed her life soon after. In 1829, the church went under renovation which is said to have awoken Sybil’s ghost…
A ghostly sighting?
Since her ‘awakening’ Sybil, now known as the ‘Grey Lady’, has been known to wander the State Apartments and Clock Court of the palace. She has also been linked to some unusual noises – like the sound of a spinning wheel.
