Judge Jeffreys has also been spotted wandering the halls looking for criminals he can sentence to death – one of his victims, John Crowther, who was convicted of stealing sheep has also been seen on the premises.

While some of the spirits in the Skirrid Inn are definitely of the malevolent sort, there have been some friendly ghosts reported. Father Henry Vaughn, a local clergyman, is said to have settled in the inn for his afterlife.
