The Mansion isn’t just the ‘Murder House’
It was perhaps most famously seen in Episode 4, Season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where it was used as the site for a college frat house.

The episode, entitled Fear, Itself, shows Buffy and her friends trapped inside this haunted frat house on Halloween escaping zombies and ghastly demons.

It’s obvious that Rosenheim Mansion has a certain vibe to it. Both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and American Horror Story used it as a haunted house, and both times a classic sense of horror tension was oozing from the screen.

In a lot of cases it is a bit far-fetched to suggest that a setting for film or TV is a ‘character’ in itself, but Rosenheim Mansion in Murder House is such an integral part of the season, that in this case it deserves that accolade.
