9. Every scene with Sarah Paulson’s two heads character took ages to shoot

During Freak Show, Sarah Paulson had to play one (or should I say, two) of her most challenging roles ever in American Horror Story as Bette and Dot Tattler.

Probably Paulson’s craziest role ever

Incredibly, every scene that featured the conjoined twins took almost 15 hours to shoot and Paulson was in costume and character for the whole duration!

The crazy two-headed look was created through a combination of visual effects and puppeteering, with thousands of minute changes taking place every time Paulson has to talk with a different head.

On playing the conjoined twins, Paulson said it was definitely her hardest role to date, and added:

“At first I thought there was no way they could do it”.

However difficult the role was, she always found the funny side of it:

“I’m really overusing the twin emoji on my iPhone”.

Paulson kept her spirits up during the 15-hour filming sessions

The work that went into creating Bette and Dot shows the commitment of Paulson to American Horror Story. And I thought 9-5 was a long day at the office.
