While the show was progressive in many ways, some of the show’s viewers struggled with it.

There were some viewers who were offended by The Jeffersons’ ground-breaking interracial couple.

As a result, Cover was constantly sent hate mail because of his character’s relationship with Roker’s Helen.

Again, this is not the case today but we definitely feel uncomfortable at the fact this was an issue!

Thankfully the star and the show’s producers refused to let the hatred win and continued to push boundaries throughout the show’s 11-season run.

Yes another piece of adhoc material the producers managed to squeeze into the show. These made for great entertainment and a personal touch.
