Daphne Clarke was married to Des in Neighbours and was the first regular character to be written out of the show when she was killed off.

Daphne was one of the favourite’s in the show, her bold, brash personality won the viewer’s hearts, so when she was killed off viewers were left heartbroken. She gave up stripping to take over the lease to the local coffee shop and befriended many of the Ramsey Street residents, including Guy Pearce who played teenager Mike Young. Her main storylines include her marriage to Des Clarke with whom she had a son in 1987. She left ‘to take care of her dying father but returned again because viewers were unsatisfied with her ending.

Elaine came back to portrayed Daphne’s death when she was killed off in a dramatic car crash dying in Des’ arms in one of the shows most memorable and earliest tragedies.

After leaving Neighbours in 1988, Elaine Smith, now 54, went on to star in The Flying Doctor and Home and Away for a short while. She also appeared in shows like A Country Practice and All Saints. She decided to return to university to study Teaching.

She is now a drama and Primary school teacher. She lives with husband Jonathan Biggins, who she met in Melbourne while acting, they have twin daughters Charlotte and Imogen who were born in 2000.

Those photos were taken a couple of years ago. The 54-year-old, who’s since retired from acting was recently spotted shopping in Sydney and fans would be forgiven for not recognising her. She looks very different now.

She was once defined for her short, spiky hair but the retired actress now sports longer locks.

The Neighbours if you already didn’t know is an Australian soap opera that has really taken off in the last 30 years. While it’s not that popular in the United States this Hit show is very popular to this day in Australia and the UK.

The show was first broadcasted in 1985. The whole idea behind this show was to a series of realistic stories and ideas that people could relate to in their own life. The show did not do so well in the beginning with very little support and ended up getting canceled a few different times before it finally made it big time.

The whole story takes place is a fictional community called Melbourne, Victoria. The story mainly focuses on the residents that live on Ramsey street. But it does also bring in resident from other areas around the famous cul de sac.

Whether you fell in love with the show as a kid or it is a new found love in your life you can be sure that there are plenty enough episodes from the last 30 years that you can binge watch.
