We all know that being a child of the 90s and 00s was definitely something special and there are certain memories we remember from this time that we wouldn’t change for the world.
The 90s and 00s were a time when we used to spend most of our time playing out with our friends on the street, even on the rainiest of days.
But there were certain days that we spent inside playing with our toys and watching certain things on TV. Who remembers Bear In The big Blue House and The Real Hustle? These favourites might be featured on this list.
Unfortunately for us 90s and 00s kids, there are a lot of things that we once enjoyed when we were younger that seemed to become less popular as the years went on. As we got older, we stopped playing with certain games so a lot of them were discontinued.
Here are 14 random things we will never forget from this time!
Enjoy! This will definitely put a smile on your face.
1. These chocolate bars!
Who remembers these chocolate bars when we were younger? They used to have different Disney characters on them.
This definitely brings back some great memories. Not only were they cute, but they were super delicious too! They were actually one of the best chocolates we could eat as kids and they are definitely missed. Do they even make them anymore? We haven’t seen them in years!
2. Bear in the Big Blue House
This was one of the best programmes in the world. There was nothing more fun than watching this when we were younger and trying to sing along with all the songs that were featured.
This brings back so many memories. This will never get old! The last episode was aired in 2006 so the younger kids of today will never get to enjoy programmes like this.
3. Where’s Wally
These books played a HUGE part in our childhood. We know that we would spend AGES trying to find all the different people in each two-page spread of the book.
When you looked at this book for so long, you quickly began to know where all the characters were without even having to try! There would be a time that you wouldn’t look in the book for months to try and see if you still remember where they are.
4. Shag Bands
These were a HUGE craze when we were kids. There was actually nothing more random than going around and wearing enough of these to cover your full arm.
Each different colour meant a different thing. How many of these did you used to have? We tried our hardest to collect as many as we could. I remember quite clearly what certain colours meant but no one ever went through with it if it snapped. We quite glad they didn’t either.
5. M I High
We know that this was one of the best television shows for us kids. We all wished that one day we would be spies at school.
We knew this was impossible, but we never stopped dreaming about the idea. Daisy was always our favourite character from this show!
6. Making these little cakes
If we didn’t know what to spend an afternoon doing, then we would make these little buns. You could buy these packet mixes from everywhere.
The icing was always ridiculously runny! But, we were always so proud of the outcome when these were finished. Happy memories. there were actually so many different versions of these of our favourite cartoons and TV programmes.
7. Mr Frosty
We know that making ice pops with Mr Frosty was easily one of the most fun things that we could have done when we were younger.
This brings back so many memories. This was, without a doubt, one of the best presents you could have been given when you were a kid. You could actually make so much with Mr Frosty. If you didn’t want to make ice lollies then you could make slush. The possibilities were endless.
8. Takeshi’s Castle
There used to be a channel that used to show Takeshi’s Castle non-stop. This programme was actually hilarious and it never got old.
We all would have done anything to have been on this programme as kids. This brings back so many memories and we always hoped that they would make a British version of this so that we could apply for it when we were older.
9. Nintendogs
We all know that Nintendogs was the one game that every single person who owned a DS used to have. We used to spend HOURS playing on this.
The best part of the whole game was when you were walking your dog and they picked up a present for you off the street. However, the present was always crap… Or even better when you bumped into another dog on your walk and they became best friends. I used to always send my dogs to do the agility competition and would always end out on top.
10. Beat the Boss
This was a show on CBBC when we were younger. It was pretty much the children’s version of Alan Sugar’s Apprentice.
You had to essentially ‘Beat The Boss’ with your new idea. We all wish that we were one of the kids that went on these programmes but we never thought our new idea was good enough. There were so many shows on CBBC that we wished we could have applied for.
11. Frubes
These were a classic lunch box necessity. Every single lunch time you had an extremely varied dinner.
This consisted of your sandwich, a piece of fruit, some crisps, a chocolate bar and, of course, a Frube. Did anyone else used to twist their Frube in the middle until it burst?
12. Making these tea towels at school
Every single year we got given a tiny square piece of paper where we would draw a picture of ourselves.
This would then be moved on to a tea towel.. the pictures we all drew were absolutely AWFUL but our parents lied and told us what amazing artists we were. We would end up looking like a circle with two dots for eyes, a line for a mouth and spirals for hair.
13. The Real Hustle
This was a programme that we all used to be completely obsessed with when we were younger. The Real Hustle was definitely one of a kind.
It showed you different scenarios where you could have had money wrongly stolen from you. We all loved watching this SO much.
14. Ready Steady Cook Junior Ice Cream Maker
This was another present that we either got for Christmas or for our Birthday’s that we were completely obsessed with.
In reality, we would probably only use our Ice Cream Maker about twice before it ended up in storage untouched for years!
