1. Babycham
You couldn’t go to a house party without finding one of these in the cupboards. It was extremely popular back in the day and people would always have some of these around Christmas, it was considered a tradition for a lot of people.
2. Perfumes
What was your perfume in the 80s? There were a lot of different popular ones that were extremely popular. We had Exclamation which was one that most of the girls had and everyone ended up smelling the same! Who remembers Poison? It was one of my favourites from the 80s and was strictly saved for special occasions. Apparently, it was a method for seduction, but I don’t know if that was true. Electric Youth was one of the biggest favourites of the era as it was quite cheap and smelled amazing. The bottle was incredibly memorable too! It was marketed along with Debbie Gibson’s albums in the 80s and was one of the most bought perfumes.
3. Treets
Minstrels and M&M’s just don’t cut it for me. These were the best things ever and I don’t think modern chocolate balls can compare anymore.
4. Little Professor
A lot of people still have theirs, and they still work! They should bring these back for kids, instead of giving them all the answers on calculators. These were genius!
5. RaRa Skirts
I’m pretty sure most of us owned a RaRa skirt at one point. I remember having to wear shorts under mine because it was WAY too short….The things you do for fashion.
6. Chelsea Girl
One of the many popular high street shops in the 70s & 80s. Chelsea became River Island, which is still one of the most popular shops in on the high street but I don’t think it will ever beat the original Chelsea Girl for style.
7. Quadrophenia
The 1979 British film about the rivalry between Mods and Rockers. Phil Daniels, Leslie Ash, Toyah Wilcox, Ray Winstone and Sting all starred in this gritty film. It has become a cult classic and is still watched by a lot of people!
8. Rita, Sue and Bob too
Such a good film, don’t you think? This was one of my favourites, did you like it?
9. Levi Jeans
One of the many very memorable adverts of the 80s. Levi’s are still very popular nowadays but it’s safe to safe they’re a lot more expensive than they used to be! They are now considered the absolute best jean that you can buy and a lot of people will save up for these becuase they know they will last.
10. Triiiiiooooooooooooo
I remember doing my parents head in every time it came on. How could you forget about this ad? They don’t make ads like these anymore and it’s so upsetting.
11. Sovereign Rings
Hmmm, now. What’s your opinion on these? They were extremely popular in the 80s, but not with everyone. Certainly not with me. They are iconic to the time of the 80s and will always make me think of the era.
12. David Bellamy
David did a lot of nature programmes, a bit like David Attenborough, but then all of a sudden we stopped seeing him on our televisions. I’ll always remember Lenny Henry impersonating him on TISWAS as well. Bellamy was apparently frozen out by the BBC in his own words which is a shame cause he was great!
13. Golden Vanilla Choc Ice
Finding these in the freezer was like finding gold. Choc Ice’s used to be so popular but these days I don’t think that people have them anymore which is a shame because they were so good!
14. Purple Rain
Still a very popular song with most ages…..anyone played the purple rain drinking game? Every time you heard the word Purple you have to take a drink. Sadly Prince has passed away but this song in particular will live on forever.
15. TJ Hooker
Yet another America cop show that was popular over here. Were you a fan? Or were you more into Magnum P.I and Miami Vice?
16. You and me
A lot of fond memories watching this in infant school….everyone was crammed into the staffroom where the only TV was.
17. Top Gun
Definitely, one of the best 80s films, do you agree? Tom Cruise has managed to remain the same age since he was in this movie and at the age of 55, he is still performing stunts in action movies. How he is still going at such speeds is incredible.
18. Kickers
Who still wears Kickers? These were the best shows you could get and they would last absolutely ages. You never needed to buy another pair of these, just look at the thickness of those soles!
19. Mullets (for some reason)
Remind me why these hairstyles were ever in fashion…..reckon we will look back at ourselves now in 20 years and think the same? I don’t think so as this was just so out there. Nowadays people don’t so much do weird styles but a lot of people colour their hair in wacky colours.
20. Cross Stitching
Remember learning this in school? Then cross-stitching your own things when they came loose. This takes me back! Do you remember doing this in school?
21. Eastenders
It’s still popular now, after all these years. But who could forget about these two? They were definitely one of the best, if not the best couple in Eastenders!
