There was actually nothing more embarrassing than some of the things we did when we were younger. It’s always funny to look back at photos of ourselves when we were in school or college, back when we thought we looked the shit when really we didn’t, at all.

We knew that half the stuff we did when we were growing up was cool at the time, but when we look back we cringe so badly…

1. Ugg boots

If you couldn’t afford to buy the real thing, you went for the second best thing, which was Primark’s version of Ugg boots. They didn’t keep your feet warm like real ones do, all they did was break after wearing them a couple of times in the rain and give you seriously bad posture.

2. When your makeup broke

This was the absolute WORST thing in the whole wide world, it still is to be honest. Especially when you break an expensive one from MAC, I swear half of my monthly wage goes on buying new makeup that I’ve lost or broken.

When your makeup broke, you didn’t even know what to do with yourself, especially because you were too young to have a job to pay for your own makeup and you knew that if you went up to your mum with another broken bronzer palette she’d probably tell you where to stick it.

3. Concealer on our lips

This was another look that we all became quickly obsessed with, it looked like we just plastered sun cream on our lips to make them paler than the rest of our face but then it’d dry up on your lips and make you look like you were foaming from the mouth.

What on earth posessed us to make ourselves look like this and why did our parents let us out of the house like that? Not a good look. Not a good look at all.

4. Wore fedoras

Can someone explain why this was ever a fashion statement? There was actually nothing grosser than this hat. Yet, we STILL thought it was a good idea to wear one.

Did Alicia Keys not think she looked a bit of a d*ck walking down the red carpet with a hat on with a dress? No?

5. Wore dream matte mousse ten shades darker than your skin

Would you have been a 90s baby if you didn’t grow up to do this? This makeup was soooooo popular in the 00s but when you didn’t have a clue how to apply makeup in a normal way no foundation was going to make you look okay.

Remember when girls would walk around with their face way darker than their neck? That was called a ‘slag line’ in our school – charming.

6. These earrings

These were the classic earrings that we all used to wear when we were younger. We would get told off for wearing them at school – but we really didn’t care, we thought we looked good and that was all that mattered.

You’d walk down the corridor with these in your ears and quickly shove your hair in front of them if you saw a teacher walking towards you.

7. Hooch coats

There was nothing better than buying your winter coat. I think half of my year had one of these coats, the really long ones with white furry pom poms were popular at my school.

8. Blonde hair with brown stripes

For some reason, we thought the ‘bird poo streaks through hair’ look would make us look like Kelly Clarkson. There was nothing subtle about this hairstyle but everyone seemed to want it and for about a year, everyone had this hideous hair. I’m sincerely hoping it doesn’t come back in fashion.

9. The platinum blonde hair

This completely destroyed our hair when we were younger especially since my hair was jet black and it just made it go ginger, not platinum blonde like it promised on the box.

Dying it platinum blonde was never going to do anything good for your hair.

10. Wore a weird band around our head

We would backcomb our hair a ridiculous amount and then put a weird band just ON our head. The band wasn’t allowed to come off our head or else everyone would see the big mark it made on our foreheads, plus it rubbed our 20 layers of foundation off.

11. We drank Frosty Jacks

We all absolutely hated this stuff because it went flat within the hour. But, a three-litre bottle of Frosty Jacks was always bought before a house party, it was a must and about the only thing you could afford in year 10.

12. Or a quarter bottle of Glenns vodka

This tasted horrible and in excess probably made you go blind. There was always that story that went round about a girl in your school that drank so much Glenn’s vodka at a party that she went blind and was never seen again – it still didn’t stop you from necking a bottle before a party though did it.

Does anyone buy this stuff anymore? I know I’m guilty ?

13. Matching tracksuits

We used to spend a lot of money on stuff like this, well, not our money, our parent’s money. If you couldn’t afford a Juicy Couture tracksuit, you’d have to settle for a Primarni special that looked like it was worth about 20p and it itched your legs and arms whenever you wore it.

Obviously you’d wear it with your fake pair of Ugg boots.

14. These tops…

Remember this Geek top everyone used to wear from Topshop? It came in about 10000000 different colours and EVERYONE had it. It was like the “Sex, Drugs and Sausage Rolls” top lads used to wear.

15. Tacky acrylics

LOTS of money was spent on getting our nails done and half the time you couldn’t do anything with them because they were either too long or styled a ridiculous shape. I’m pretty sure every single girl at my prom had the same nails on.

16. Our eyebrows

Do you think we will look back at our eyebrows in 10 years and think the same as what we do when we look at photos of our eyebrows 10 years ago? We’ve gone from having the world’s thinnest eyebrows to having thicker, bushier ones. Will they go out of fashion again soon?

What on earth were we even thinking?!

17. Sunglasses like this

We all thought that we could wear trendy sunglasses when we were out but half the time they were too big for our little pea heads or they were just ridiculously over the top. Either way, most of the time we didn’t look good…in ANYTHING.
